Daniell Alnuma
is a contemporary dancer & choreographer based out of France since 7
years. She was introduced to Oriental
Dance at the age of 4 in Egypt.
Spending her childhood between two extremes - the
desert bordering the Red Sea and the Northern forests along the icy lakes
provided her with an opportunity to observe nature keenly, its ways, its
cycles, its rhythms which is reflective
in her style.
Spending most of her life studying ballet and
contemporary Daniell has reached a place where she has developed her own style.
She has now co-created the company
"Orientations" and also "Corps et Amies" teaching, creating
and performing while seamlessly
fusing Oriental bellydance and Contemporary forms.
She calls her dance style: Tazrimim
Tazrimim is flux or flowing in Hebrew and is
reminiscent of the Arabic word "Taksim" a word used in music to
signify the act of improvising or in other words modulating the musical flux.
As such, dancing is the modulation of the flux that is passing through the
dancing body including the emotional flux that gives a dramatic quality to the
dance.
From the same point of view one can say that
Classical forms like Ballet tends to gather the flux vertically, contemporary dance tends to spread it horizontally while Oriental dance tends
to bring it back to into the interior
through circular movement, undulations and waves.
Tazrimim is a quest for decentered, undulating,
liquid dance. While preserving a tonic presence and through her observations of
movements in nature esp. underwater Daniell’s style explores clean and strong isolations which can yet be
very fluid, waterlike and gracefully feminine.
Daniel will teach her unique style Tazrimim
which fuses seamlessly indeed Oriental and Bellydance

Within the fold of her style, she will offer two workshops:
a. Contemporary
bellydance workshop:
Bellydance is a bit restrictive since most movements are standing. The
goal of this workshop is to free the body and use
- falls to and rises from the floor while transitioning smoothly and 'non clunkily'!.
- falls to and rises from the floor while transitioning smoothly and 'non clunkily'!.
- Swivels and glides to travel in the space
- Undulations (which we are familiar with) expanding into spirals and
waves
All this to expand the body vocabulary to tell a story or add some drama
to one’s dance through a short choreography taught by Daniell.
The workshop will also leave you with stretches and strength building
exercises gleaned from varied dance style philosophies to support
your further practice.
b. Liquid
Bellydance Workshop
As you study bellydance one does move to a point where the movement is
already clean and controlled but there may still be a bit of stiffness or
rigidity to it. Maybe your flexibility level needs to be taken up a notch or
maybe you are still lacking the control that gives you that smooth flow that we
all appreciate in bellydance. This workshop will focus on how to make flowing
transitions from one move to the next
One of the focus areas will be
- Dazzling Turns and spins. Daniell will pull from all her varied ballet
and contemporary background to teach several kinds of turns which can be
integrated in your routine to bedazzle your audience!
A short sequence will be taught
using turns etc .
