Payal Gupta

Ms. Payal Gupta hails from a diverse cultural background where performing arts is given immense importance and hence has been passionate about dance since the age of 7. She holds a degree in B.E. and took dance classes all through her college life, but her passion for dance made her opt for a career shift only to make the world dance along with her.

She has gained tremendous amount of experience in performing, teaching and directing, while learning various forms of dance from reputed instructors like Aziza (Canada), Sadie Marquardt (USA), Leyla Jouvana (Germany), Silvia Salamanca (USA), Nika Mlakar (Slovenia), Nadia Nikishenko (Russia), Queenie (Belgium), Tito (Egypt), Yousry Sharief (Egypt/USA), Jilina (USA), Sonia Ochoa (USA), Mercedes Nieto (Hungary), Randa Kamel (Egypt), Raquia Hassan (Egypt), Moriah CHapel (USA), Rachel Brice (USA), SHaron Kihara (USA), Arati sunawala, Prithvi and Ree and the NATYA institute (India). The dance forms include belly dance, modern contemporary, jive, kathak and freestyle. 

She specialises in Egyptian, Arabic, fusion and modern belly dance along with modern contemporary and Bollywood freestyle. She also holds a record in the “INDIAN BOOK OF RECORDS” in the field of belly dancing.

“Belly Dance is still perceived as a dance form restricted to certain sections of the society in India but, this is what I aim at changing. My goal is to give Belly dance its due credit as an art form in India”.

Winner at the 21st ORIENTAL BELLY DANCE FESTIVAL, BELLY DANCER OF THE WORLD, Germany, 2013.

Participant with co-star ‘Sihi- Kahi Chandru’ (regional film director, producer and actor) in the reality dance series ‘DANCING STAR’ 2014.

Winner at the 23rd ORIENTAL BELLY DANCE FESTIVAL, BELLY DANCER OF THE WORLD 2014.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

a. Fan veil fantasy fusion: (open level)

In this workshop you will learn how to handle and use the dynamic fan veils to create magical moments and gorgeous visually appealing movements and shapes.The workshop will also comprise of techniques, drills and combinations with a short choreography.

b. Chunky funky Drum solo: (intermediate to advance)

Chunky accents to funky drum solo music is the mantra of this workshop. Learn drills and various layering combinations I created after studying for two years from the Drum solo queen  herself "Sadie". A short choreography to the music of "Issam Houshan" the darabouka master also included.
